Farm Bar, Chicago, IL
Tucked away in a trendy residential neighborhood in the heart of Lakeview, this quiet corner bar was the perfect new concept project from the Farmheads Restaurant Group, to try out their new truncated version of their wildly popular Farmhouse Restaurant. To embrace the Midwest farm-to-table concept, the outside of the building is half a barn from Wisconsin that was bought, tore down and used as the siding. Inside much of the interiors had to be removed except for the original back bar—it was made from mahogany, and was carefully taken apart and put it back together. The main front bar is made of a black walnut tree from co-owner Wisconsin’s farm. Whitewashed original tin ceiling and paneled walls provide a neutral backdrop for murals inspired by old barn ads, by Farmhouse muralist Peter Hurley.
